Sanjay Kumar Bhardwaj is Chairperson & Professor Centre for South Asian Studies, School of International Studies, JNU. His Areas of Specialization include India’s Foreign Policy with special reference to its Neighbours (Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and China), Bangladesh: Identity, Politics and Foreign Policy issues, South Asia: History of Partition, Identity, Religion, South Asia: Politico-Security, Socio-Cultural Issues. He is the recipient of several awards and fellowships.

Association of Asia Scholars (AAS) is pleased to announce a modest grant/fellowship for
Joint Studies on the North East Region of India, to be undertaken within a span of six
months.
Eligibility: Scholars/Faculties based in institutions / Universities in the North East Region of
India. Doctoral degree holders will be preferred.
Areas of research:
Security, Border, Borderland Communities, Social and ethnic paradigms of the region,
Socio-economic Problems & Livelihood Issues of North East Region, Trade and
Commerce, Health, Climate change and environment issues, Water and Energy
security, Trans-border linkages, Northeast Region in India’s Act East Policy,
Significance of Myanmar and Bangladesh in the development of North-East Region of
India etc.
Requirements: The following must be submitted:-
a. A Brief proposal of your specific research interest and title of the proposed study.
(400-500 words approx.)
b. A Brief CV, mentioning your qualifications and publications as well as address and
name of institution.
c. A letter stating that you are willing to undertake the study jointly with a fellow of
AAS
